our story
We’ve enjoyed success creating innovative sites and growing companies that still consume our thoughts years after exit. As investors, we’re drawn to businesses that boldly defy tradition and re-invent everything from their supply chain to customer experience — especially in e-commerce. We continue to back mostly small- to mid-size emerging companies with proven revenue and clear financial metrics.

real estate
Our personal interest in architecture and a long-standing family development background have driven our real estate efforts for over 30 years. We invest in projects that re-think existing use and offer value-add upside — primarily income-producing multi-unit residential and self-storage — but also selective commercial and residential projects that fit our experience. We partner with proven, well-capitalized developers, managers, and builders.
We’re a boutique investment firm founded in 2006 following two decades working in and running companies. We were fortunate to take part early in the world’s transformation from paper to digital, as Google became a verb and Amazon began upending traditional retail. We were fascinated—and soon deeply involved—as they and others completely disrupted and re-invented everything we knew about how things work. That perspective continues to drive us toward opportunities still stuck in old-school thinking, in two categories we love and pursue exclusively:
our work
Since our founding, we’ve invested in opportunities that challenge convention within our two sectors — technology and real estate. Our portfolio spans digital platforms that have completely redefined how people travel, to remarkable technology that purifies pretty awful water, to new automated self-storage complexes replacing outdated big box retail centers. Here are some highlights of our portfolio:

about
Alan Bittker, Co-Founder. Before founding the Bittker Group in 2006, Alan spent nine years as CEO of EPI/Entertainment.com. He led an LBO spinoff with The Carlyle Group and, after three years, sold the company to IAC (NASDAQ: IAC) for $360M. Alan continued running EPI after the sale, expanding its products and scaling the website into a top-750 e-commerce property with 3+ million active unique visitors, nearly $100M of the company’s $200M+ in online revenue, and EBITDA margins north of 20%.
In 2008, the Bittker Group became the minority shareholder in MyLocker.com, a recent start-up aimed at disrupting the traditional screen-printing industry. Alan served as President, helping build the company into an industry leader in online print-on-demand. After selling most of its position in 2017, the Bittker Group shifted its attention to new acquisitions, and today the firm manages more than 25 portfolio investments. Alan graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in business and general studies.

Sandy Bittker, Co-Founder. Prior to founding the firm in 2006, Sandy spent over ten years in fashion retail and buying management. She initially managed the Bittker Group’s real estate and finance activities until taking an active role at MyLocker in 2009. There, she built its first customer-service team as website traffic scaled and then transformed MyLocker’s merchandise and vendor strategy — from basic tees and sweatshirts to a broad selection of fashion-forward styles — driving a much larger cart size. Her efforts created the need for expanded vendor capacity and more sophisticated supply-chain operations.
In the last ten years, MyLocker acquired SpiritShop.com, launched CustomCat.com, and developed major partnerships with Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy, and others. After the Bittker Group sold most of its position in 2017, Sandy moved to evaluating new acquisitions while managing portfolio financials. She holds a finance degree from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
